Pain of one sort or another has been my companion since my earliest memory. Maybe it's bad DNA that has caused this disposition. Maybe it's pure dumb luck. Or, maybe it's a curse sent down by the Almighty God to torment my mortality. It matters not which of these, if any, are the cause of such affliction because I am determined to turn this into a positive experience.
Millions of people suffer from various forms of chronic pain and sometimes that suffering is small compared to the loneliness the condition creates. Unless you've had to deal with the daily grind of pain and pills, doctors and lawyers, and uncaring insurance and governmental agencies you can't fathom what the experience is like.
We all go through life with bumps and bruises or illnesses of some sort. Usually, these heal and go away. For those with chronic pain, the healing doesn't come easily if at all. While those around constantly ask, "Are you getting better?" They have no way of understanding when the answer is, "NO!"
My intention with this blog is to keep a journal of the trials and setbacks I face in an effort to help other sufferers know that they are not alone. They are not "crazy." Maybe, in some small way, friends and family members of those with chronic pain can read this and get a glimpse of what we go through.
My intention is to be candid, honest, and straight forward without glossing over anything. Some things may be gross, some things may be funny, but in the end it's all true.
